I had this list in another post but think it might draw more interest/answers if posted separately.
Here is a list of the metals and I would like to attempt to fill in location:
Caesium: Not usually found in Caldari space
Cobalt: Amarr space
Neodynium: Gallente Space
Promethium: Some in Gallente Space
Silicates:
Thulium: Gallente Space
Tungsten: associated with Caldari & Gallente space (Not found in Ammar)
Cadmium:
Chromium:
Dysprosium:
Halfnium: Not usually found in Caldari space
Mercury: Not usually found in Caldari space
Platinum: Gallente Space
Technetium: associated with Caldari space
Titanium:
Vanadium:

Originally by: Andromada Fearless We have the following in our area of Amarr space Caesium Cobolt Neobyium Cadnium Chromium Hafnium Platinum Vanadium Silictes are a common moon material
Are all of these very common or are some more common then others?

Originally by: Sol Basso I didn't think moon minerals were regional,
It would appear that some are... and some are in all locations. That is what this thread is about.

Originally by: TitusFlamininus There is absolutely zero statistical evidence that there is a regional favouring for the rarest moon minerals of Dysropsium, Promethium, Neodynium and Thulium.
I was wondering about that....

Sounds good:
Originally by: Siminuria (The below is from a low sec/0.0 experience of moon mining, I have no knowledge of it in high sec.)
If you are looking for something rare, you might probe 10 or 20 systems near where you are, i.e. 500 moons probed would not be unrealistic. If you want to make a profitable venture, get a LOT of data before you start, dont just probe one system and assume you can find something worthwhile in it.
Somone else I think has gone over Tungsten, titanium, Scandium and Cobalt being found according to faction in a region. Atmospheric gases, silicates, evaporate deposits and hydrocarbons can be found anywhere.
Cadmium, Vanadium, Chromium and Platinum can be found anywhere but there is probably only at most 7 or 8 moons with one of these metals in a system with a lot of moons.
Caesium Technetium, Mercury and Hafnium. Not sure but I believe all low sec areas generally have a only 1 of these type of moons in abundance (average maybe 1 moon per system or less) but also the odd moon (very rare) with another of these metals (e.g. constellation A with 8 systems has 6 hafnium moons, the whole region has 20 hafnium moons and 1 caesium and 1 technetium moon). This rule of thumb appears to hold true for 0.0 areas as well.
Promethium, Dysprosium, Neodynium and Thulium are very rare in low sec but any region/constellation that has a moon with one of these could have any one, they dont seem to be distributed by factional control of that region. They are less rare in 0.0 but still amount to less than 1 moon per system. I have my theories about their distribution in 0.0 space being non-random but I'm remaining tight lipped about that :P (besides, I'm probably wrong and then I would look like a tit )
